Früher habe ich gerne Spielfilme gesehen. Das ist schon lange her, denn mittlerweile sind Dokumentationen das, was ich am liebsten sehe. Denn nichts ist spannender als das reale, wahre, echte Leben. Nun gibt es für die Website für Fans wie mich: DocumentaryHeaven. Fein säuberlich in Kategorien eingeteilt, finden Sie dort Dokumentarfilme aus unterschiedlichsten Quellen im Internet. Das heißt, man kann die Filme sogar ins eigene Blog einbetten.

Ich kann das bestätigen: eine unglaubliche Auswahl, man könnte Tage und Nächte ... Hier zwei bis drei Anregungen:

1. Darwin’s Nightmare
A harrowing, hard-hitting documentary which shows the devastating effects of the “globalized” economy on the residents of a fishing village in Tanzania. The story starts four decades ago when a species of huge fish is introduced to Tanzania’s Lake Victoria. The fish are now harvested, chopped into filets and shipped to European and Japanese consumers while the Africans who catch and process them are left with rotting carcasses – and very little else. This film focuses on the fish for gun trade that has arisen and the impact it has had on life in the area.



2. War Photographer
A film about the American photographer James Nachtwey, about his motivation, his fears and his daily routine as a war photographer. If we believe Hollywood pictures, war photographers are all hard-boiled and cynical old troopers. How can they think about ‘exposure time’ in the very moment of dread?
Swiss author, director and producer Christian Frei followed James Nachtwey for two years into the wars in Indonesia, Kosovo, Palestine… Christian Frei used special micro-cameras attached to James Nachtwey’s photo-camera.
We see a famous photographer looking for the decisive moment. We hear every breath of the photographer. For the first time in the history of movies about photographers, this technique allowed an authentic insight into the work of a concerned photo-journalist.




3. Night and Fog
Nacht und Nebel (Originaltitel: Nuit et brouillard) ist ein französischer Dokumentarfilm über die sogenannte Nacht-und-Nebel-Aktion des NS-Staates, bei der des Widerstandes verdächtige Personen spurlos verschwanden und heimlich in die Konzentrationslager des Dritten Reichs deportiert wurden. Der Film wurde 1955 von Anatole Dauman auf Initiative des Historikers Henri Michel produziert. Regie führte Alain Resnais. Die Filmmusik schrieb Hanns Eisler (1898–1962).
